lottie files

 What is it  Lottie files?

A Lottie is a JSON-based animation file format that makes it possible to export animations on any platform just as simple as static assets. They are modest files that can be scaled up and down without pixelation on any platform. Lottie Files makes it simple to create, modify, test, collaborate on, and ship a Lottie.

History:

It all started in 2015 when a developer used Adobe After Effects to create a new plugin called Bodymovin, which generates real-time animation in JSON format. JSON is a text-based format of JavaScript files that helps web developers to work more efficiently and effectively.

Around 2016, the Airbnb brains collaborated with their lead animator to create iOS and Android frameworks that can render this new, fast file type using JSON. They called the filetype Lottie after German filmmaker and pioneer of silhouette animation Charlotte Lotte Reiniger.

Lottie animations are totally scalable without being pixelated, making it easier to create for different devices or displays. Lottie files are compatible with more operating systems than other rendering libraries, allowing you to work with them from any platform, including Mac, iOS, Android, Microsoft, and Qt.
